Sometimes you have to adapt your strategies according to your visitors likes and dislikes. In one my many niche sites I made quite a few mistakes setting it up. I will address each of these in a minute.

I chose a market instead of a niche

I didn’t pay attention and use any keyword research in my posts

I didn’t pay attention to what my traffic was telling me

I stuck with the same affiliate program even though it wasn’t converting

Market vs. Niche

A lot of Internet marketers make the mistake of choosing a market to promote instead of a niche. What’s the difference you may ask? A lot!

The easiest way to explain this is too use Golf as an example. Golf is a market not a niche. Now, some of you may say Golf is a niche in the Sports market or the Outdoor Sports market, but sorry I think you are wrong. It is still too broad of a market to try to target with a niche blog. Unless you have a lot of patience and a lot of time on your hands.

Bare with me for a minute. Let’s break it down. Golf is a market, golf clubs or golf balls, golf carts or even golf courses are niches, while Spalding® golf balls or TaylorMade® golf clubs are micro-niches.

If some one is looking for Spalding® golf balls chances are they are looking to buy golf balls and not looking or free information on golf balls. While someone searching for just golf could very well just be researching and not ready to buy.

In every Market there are sections that just don’t sell or only attract visitors and aren’t looking to buy, they just want information.

Keyword Research

Keyword choice can make or break you, quite literally. Choose the wrong keywords or not pay attention and just posting on any and everything in your market and your blog becomes an information center only and not a money generator.

I didn’t pay attention and just posted willy nilly about my “market” and before you know it, all my visitors were after was information and not interested in any adsense ads, banner ads or even text ads. I did manage to turn this around a little and started to show at least a little income flowing in, by paying closer attention to what keywords I chose.

Traffic Demographics and Search Terms

The keywords your visitors found you with can tell you a lot and having accurate statistics can be a marketers best friend. If you have no idea what keywords your visitors used to find, then you have no idea what they are looking for.

My search terms told me that everyone just wanted free information, yet I was stubborn and didn’t adjust for quite awhile, thinking well I can turn them on and get them excited about this or that, but nope, no dice. It was futile to even try and I was ready to give up.

I was ranked very good in Google and held a lot of number one, two and three spots for a lot of different phrases, but all “free” related. I had to adjust something, but what?

Adjust Your Affiliate Program To Match

I finally sat down and LOOKED with an open mind on what was happening. I was simple promoting the wrong things to the wrong people. Duh!!!

In almost every market there is a section of people are only looking for free stuff or free information. The good news is that there is a way to tap into that and profit from it.

I did a lot of research and discovered there were a few things my visitors were interested in, I simply adjusted my marketing and switched affiliate programs to cater to what they were actually interested in and not what I felt they should be interested in. CPA advertising is great for this and can really turn your dead income around, provided you can find the right match to your traffic.

I guess the biggest take away I can give you from this, is to listen and look at what your traffic is telling you and then find a way to adjust to their needs. By doing so, I was able to turn the blog around and make more money in one month than it did for the past two years combined.

A number of months ago, something interesting happened…

Over a 2-4 week period, one particular blog became extremely popular attracting hundreds of thousands of unique visitors.

So why was it so popular?

The answer is simple…

The blog contained something people wanted.

In fact, they wanted it so bad that many people came back again and again.

You see, the person who owned the blog was publishing some very valuable information but he was doing it in a very unique way.

It wasn’t some boring post or report.

It wasn’t even an image or audio training.

The thing that grabbed people’s attention were these step-by-step videos.

I know what you are thinking…

“I can see videos all over the web – what’s the big deal?”.

Well, they were a big deal because they were an inside view of this person’s $15 million dollar business.

Essentially he was showing people step-by- step exactly what he is doing in his business with these videos.

In fact, you can see one of them here:
http://www.marketingtutorials.com/

However, here’s the “BAD NEWS” of this story…

Shortly after this promotion, he removed all the videos and so unfortunately you can’t see them anymore.

(other than the one shown on the page below)

http://www.marketingtutorials.com/

But, since he received so much positive response from everyone, he’s decided to do something even better…

Now You Can Get More “Insider” Videos
———————————————

After this campaign, the emails poured in from people using the strategies and techniques he described in these videos.

The best part was…

The were GETTING RESULTS!

That’s when he decided to continue the momentum and produce more videos… and deliver them every month.

It’s called “Marketing Tutorials”.

Every month Armand Morin will take you behind the scenes and show you exactly what he’s doing in his business.

All delivered through videos so you can see everything.

He’s not just “telling” you what to do.

But, he’s showing you exactly how to do it as well.

…PLUS…

You can even ask questions yourself and there is a good chance that he’ll answer them in one of his videos.

If you’re looking for some guidance but don’t have the budget for some high priced coaching, then this is for you:

http://www.marketingtutorials.com/

I know you’ll enjoy it.

Take care.

Quick Description

Generator Software has one of the longest standing affiliate programs on the web and with best selling products that have stood the test of time, it looks to be one of the premiere affiliate programs to join.
If you are in a hurry go here:
https://generatorsoftware.com

What I Like

First and foremost, this affiliate program is managed which makes a major difference. That means if you have questions, there is someone there to answer them.

The commissions are great and what’s even better is the
retention. They have such a low refund and on average, when a customer buys a product from Generator Software for the first time, that same customer will typically purchase 2-3 more within the next 4 months – all of which you receive back end commissions on!

They also provide weekly training covering a wide range of topics such as generating traffic, PPC marketing, building your list, designing review sites as well as some fundamentals like the basics of building a good affiliate business.

The other major piece worth noting is the fact that it’s a 2-tier affiliate program. That means it’s possible to generate a residual income from people you refer to the affiliate program who then make sales.

Finally, if you like Generator Software products then it’s worth being an affiliate as they provide insights and advanced notice on all new products and releases.

Things To Watch For

As with any affiliate program, you still need to take
action!

Although the Generator Software team provide lots of
prewritten emails, templates and tools (and they add new material all the time), it’s still worth noting that you won’t generate any sales unless you actually use their information.

Furthermore, it’s probably in your best interest to use the pre-written material as a guideline and then tweak it to fit your own personality or writing style.

The last thing to watch for are their rules and regulations.

You can NOT purchase their products through your own
affiliate link and it’s important to know that otherwise you could be removed from the affiliate program.

Conclusion

The Generator Software affiliate program is definitely one of the best programs to join online and it’s stood the test of time.

With 11+ years under it’s belt, it continues to grow and prove why Generator Software is one of the most recognized brands for online entrepreneurs. The products are rock solid and they sell well which are all good signs for affiliates.

For more information on this program go to:

With a few plugins available bloggers (or sploggers) are able to use your feeds on their blogs as their own content. A simple solution is to monetize your feeds. Your ads will show on their blogs giving you more links back and a possible new source of traffic/revenue.

I found a great wordpress plugin that does just that. The Feed-footer-plugin from Blogclout allows you to add footers to all your RSS feeds.

To make this work you will need go to your admin panel options/reading and checkmark the full text in the Syndication section then save options.

I know some of you are saying “I don’t want full text in my RSS, because no one will come to my blog”. Well, if you don’t have full text in your RSS many won’t come to your blog anyway, because they are just using feed readers and seldom visit the actual blogs anyway. With this plugin you can monetize those feeds and you are advertising to them right in their reader!

DO NOT go overboard with your advertising or you will lose readers fast! If you want to use a banner put it on the first feed only then use text ads under the other 9. You can have 10 different ads – one for each feed or copy paste to make all 10 of them the same.

This feed works on displaying your ads right in FeedBurner as well.

You can look at my feed for an example to see what I did.

Note: Old posts aren’t effected so you will need to make 10 new posts before you see all 10 ads. This is my first post after installing the plugin so you will only see one footer ad.

Its no secret that theres a lot of money to be made with contextual advertising, Google AdSense is obvious testimony to that.

Well, I think I’ve just found the next big thing in contextual advertising…

This little known program is a dynamic linking tool that generates affiliate links within the content on your site, on the fly, as it loads up in the users browser. Any keyword or keyphrase in any web page you publish can be instantly converted into your affiliate links.

You can use Clickbank links, Amazon links, or literally any other affiliate program you choose to promote.

This is pretty cool because you can use them together with AdSense so your site makes even more $$$. Usually Google don’t allow you to mix other contextual ad programs in with adsense, but the head guys over at Google said its fine to mix AdSense and this on the same site.

Whats more, is this program can be instantly added to any website, blog, forum, or any other site, no matter whether its html, php, asp, ANYTHING! All you do is add the javascript they give you into your site and relax.

Not only that, if your worried about search engines penalizing you for having too many outbound links, worry no more, because the code is javascript, the search engines don’t see them, so your search engine rank stays in tact.

Oh, and want to hear the final kicker? Its completely 100% FREE! (well, for now at least)

I really love this and cant say enough about it, I suggest you check this out now before the developers get wise and start charging $37 a month for it like their competition are doing.

http://www.pegasusteam.com/textadgenerator.php

How are ad placements different from custom channels?
Think of ad placements as ‘enhanced’ custom channels. To create an ad placement, you create and implement a custom channel just as you normally would. The only change is the additional step of providing attributes and an accurate description for your ad placement. On the ‘Channels’ page in your account, click the appropriate ‘edit settings’ link on the right. As you can see below, there will be a box labeled ‘Targeting’ on the next page which, once checked, will show this channel to advertisers as an ad placement. From there, you’ll just need to provide some details on where the ad unit appears on your site:

Advertisers will see the ‘External name’ and ‘Description’ along with the domain on which that placement appears, so a meaningful name and detailed description clarifying where the ads will show can make your placement more appealing. Be sure to highlight your most valuable and best-performing ad units as placements. For example, try a description like ‘Ads will appear in a 300×250 rectangle embedded within articles on the Travel section’ or ‘Ads will appear only in the leaderboard ad unit directly above any page on the site.’

Read the Complete Post on the Adsense Blog.

Over the next four weeks Google Adsense will allow publishers to display Music Videos from both Warner Music Group and Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

Google will allow the users to use AdSense on their websites and choose from a selected playlist of songs to play in their web site. These music videos will of course be accompanied by advertising.

There are many other small music publishers who are also partnering Google in this project. The revenues from the ads will be split between Google, the publisher (user) and the music company. Google refused to disclose the exact amount of the split, they did disclosed that the ads will be billed on a ‘cost-per-thousand-impressions’ model.

Section targeting allows you to suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you’d like Adsense to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to your site’s content. By providing Google with your suggestions, you can assist us in improving your ad targeting. We recommend that only those familiar with HTML attempt to implement section targeting.

To implement section targeting, you’ll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your code. These tags will mark the beginning and end of whichever section(s) you’d like to emphasize or de-emphasize for ad targeting.

The HTML tags to emphasize a page section take the following format:

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

You can also designate sections you’d like to have ignored by adding a (weight=ignore) to the starting tag:

<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

With these tags added to your HTML code, your final code may look like the following:

<html><head><title>Section targeting</title></head>

<body>

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

This is the text of your web page. Most of your content resides here.

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

</body>

</html>

You can use section targeting to make suggestions about as many sections of a page as you like. However, please be aware that we can’t guarantee results, and that it may take up to 2 weeks before our crawlers take into account any changes you’ve made to your site.

In order to properly implement this feature, you’ll need to include a significant amount of content within the section targeting tags. Including insufficient content may result in less relevant ads or PSAs. In addition, please keep in mind that this feature should only be used to emphasize significant sections of your site’s relevant content. It is against our program policies to manipulate the ad targeting to result in ads that are not relevant to the content of your pages.

This is one of the biggest problems stated by those setting up a new wordpress blog or setting up niche websites.

Personaly when I’m searching for something in particular and find a useful page I am 100% more apt to click on their adsense ad. If their page isn’t helpful and is just full of the same old “free” articles available everywhere, I won’t click anything except the BACK button!

I know you’ve heard it before, but unique content is the BEST way to provide good useful content to your visitors. Do not use PLR articles or articles from the hundreds of free article websites that have the same articles as everyone else. It is duplicate content in it’s extreme form! I know, I own an article website and the same articles are posted to hundreds of similar websites. Seldom is anything unique unless I write it myself. Articles DO have their use, but that is to get yourself traffic from your own good Unique articles on key article websites.

Another reason could be, because your choice of ‘keywords’ used in your content doesn’t match the main topic of your page. Adsense uses keywords to know what ads to place on your website, if you’re posting randomly about several topics, adsense has a hard time figurng out what your blog / website is about. If you are using wordpress (or other blogging software) and you post about multiple unrealted topics, make sure you create categories to place your posts into. Another thing you can do in wordpress is to set the maximum amount of posts to show on the front page of your blog. To do this in wordpress: Login then go to ‘Options’ then click on ‘Reading’. The default is set to 10, try setting it at 7 or 5 and this may help some.

You might also try scheduling your posts so you’re posting similar topics on a few days in a row and then post your other topics on the other days. This will better group similar posts for at least a few days.

This one seems obvious, but make sure there are adsense ads available for the topic you’re writing about. Do a search for it and look at other websites or blogs, are they using adsense and is it on topic?

Maybe your niche / topic is too broad and you need to focus on a smaller niche. You could always create another blog for the other topics you write about. Breaking your blog into two seperate ones will focus each blog better on a topic.

There are several other reasons your visitors may not be clicking your ads, but I’ll touch on those in later posts.

 How’s your online income coming along this month? Do you need a shot in the arm to make more money? I’ve come across a free resource I wanted to share with you that is going to help you make a ton of money.

Long story short this AdSense dude made thousands of dollars with all these covert inside tricks, and now is getting into info products, and just wrote a book about it. All the stuff in there is 100% quality, I kid you not, this book is the real deal.

In the e-book you learn about tips to make AdSense conversion rates skyrocket, how to build thousands of domains in minutes, and tons of stuff I had no clue about, and I know a few things about AdSense. The bottom line is you’ve got to check this e-book out here:

http://www.pegasusteam.com/blackhat.php

Now don’t be put off by the title, AdSense Black Hat Edition. This isn’t black hat, most of it is ok with Google’s TOS, and some of it is even encouraged by Google. This book explains how the term black hat is misused often, and how the techniques in this book profited the guy so much money. Even I could twist these concepts to profit from them in a legit way without a single issue from Google arising. Now if I can do it, anyone can do it!

If the 50+ page free e-book on the latest trends in making money with AdSense isn’t enough, this guy is also giving away a ton of free software, and discounts on all types of stuff. You can save up to 65% off the listed price on all the top black hat software. Vince knows that not everyone can afford the expensive software, so he’s trying to level the playing field by offering everyone amazing discounts on the software most used by AdSense black hat specialists. I’ve never seen discounts like this, the promotion is totally out of this world. All you have to do is check it out here:

http://www.pegasusteam.com/blackhat.php

Now I can’t be sure you’ll make money with AdSense, but reading this book truly takes you to a new level of expertise. You’ve got to check out the e-book, enter in the huge $28,000 give-away, and just be a part of this great program. I hope it does as much for you as it has for me.

http://www.pegasusteam.com/blackhat.php

To your online success!

Googles official AdSense blog has posted a short tutorial on how to implement an A/B Test with your AdSense ads.

The A/B test allows you to setup two different types of AdSense ads that will rotate on your page using different styles so that you can test which one works the best on your website. For example you could set it to track how two different color schemes perform in the one ad position or how different sized ad units do.Make sure you set up two channels to track your results.

Since I can’t seem to post any codes on here, please visit the adsense blog linked above for the code to use.
